Flames sign SjostromHockey Betting Lines07/01/2009 - Calgary, AB (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Calgary Flames signed forward Fredrik Sjostrom, the club announced on Wednesday. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Sjostrom, who was an original first round pick (11th overall) of the Phoenix Coyotes in 2001, scored seven goals and dished out six assists in 79 games with the New York Rangers last season. He was acquired by the Rangers on February 26, 2008. The 6-foot-1, 217-pound right winger has recorded 41 goals and 47 assists in 358 career NHL games over five seasons with the Coyotes and Rangers.

LUCIE, Fla. -- New York Mets pitcher Orlando Hernandez, sidelined at spring training because of arthritis in his neck, is expected to resume throwing on Tuesday. Hernandez received a cortisone shot Thursday after leaving camp and returning to New York to have his neck examined. The 41-year-old right-hander is penciled in as the team's No. 2 starter behind Tom Glavine. El Duque's health is a major issue for the Mets, who won the NL East in 2007 and came within one victory of the World Series. Their aging and unsettled rotation is a big question mark this year.
